Please note that the Facebook page is not monitored for comments. If you want to RSVP or request additional information about a specific item, please use the RSVP option for that item provided in the description in this newsletter or on the Events Page of our website.

Now that we are at the halfway point of 2026, if you haven't paid dues for this year, this would be a great time to do so. Go to the donation page to pay for 2026. Dues are only $10 per person!

Member Photos and Contact Information

The Communications Committee has updated the contact list to include all those members that have opted in to have their information available. The updated version is available now! Also, Nancy Supik organized our members page into a photo array. To view, go to the About page of whatsnextbaltimore.org and scroll down to Our Members Pages. We welcome more photos, so if your photo is not already included in the array, please submit it to hello@whatsnextbaltimore.org. If you need to update your contact information or if you need the password to access this page, please email hello@whatsnextbaltimore.org. 

UkuLaLas!

Tuesdays, 9:45-11:30am

The UkuLaLas  will strum Tuesdays only for the summer. Our Tuesday strums are from 9:45 to 11:30am (July 7, 14, 21, and 28). We meet at the Cedar House at 9:45am. From there, we will walk to the Observatory for our much-loved Stroller Strum which is from 11 to 11:30am. If it’s rainy, Stroller Strum will be in the Cedar House.

All What’s Next members are welcome. We happily include all musical instruments and singers. Leave us a message at hello@whatsnextbaltimore.org if you have questions or need to borrow a loaner ukulele. And don’t worry if you are new to playing; we have small-group beginner sessions to help you get started.

First Monday Trail Hike - Eutaw Place Median Park

Monday, July 6, 10am - noon
1301 Eutaw Place, Baltimore

The What’s Next July 6th hike will be an urban one along the Eutaw Place Median Park starting at the Francis Scott Key Monument located across from 1301 Eutaw Place. We will do an urban hike and explore some parks on the west side of town: Eutaw Place Median Park, Lion Park, Mosher Street Park and Arnold Sumpter Park. All are a short walk from each other.

Please let us know if you will meet us there at 10am or at Charmed Kitchen at 9:30am and whether you can drive from Charmed.

The People on the Bus

Pratt Library Central Branch Library Tour

This month’s trip will be in the afternoon to the Central Branch of the Enoch Pratt Library for a guided tour. We will meet at Nancy Supik’s house at 12:30, get on the bus around 1 pm. The tour is from 2-3. We should be back home by 4pm. RSVP to Nancy for more information and to let her know you are coming.

Happy Hour

Thursday, July 9, 5-7pm
Ministry of Brewing

Join other What’s Next members at the Ministry of Brewing. No need to RSVP. Bring your favorite small plate, finger food, or appetizer to share. Games are welcome too! Often there is a food truck (and a food truck schedule on their website) in case you want something more substantial.

Ukulalas Summer Saturday Workshop at Viv Thompson’s Home

Saturday, July 11, 10am-noon

We’ll meet at Viv’s house from10am to noon for a special workshop. Come learn and review some ukulele skills. We can also play some fun tunes together!

Fiber Arts Group

Sunday, July 12, 3-5 pm
Nancy Newman’s Home

All fiber artists and want-to-be fiber artists are welcome to join others for the monthly fiber arts group gathering at Nancy Newman’s house. Bring your work in progress or just come chat with others while we knit, crochet, sew, and weave. If you are planning to attend, please RSVP by email to hello@whatsnextbaltimore.org to let Nancy know and to get the address. And as if the fiber arts weren’t enough, there are almost always delicious snacks!

Hampton Sides, The Wide, Wide Sea: Imperial Ambition, First Contact and the Fateful Final Voyage of Captain James Cook. 

“The Wide Wide Sea” tells of Captain Cook's last journey to the Pacific (1779). From the NYT: "It is not so much a story of “first contact” as one of Cook reckoning with the fallout of what he and others had wrought in expanding the map of Europe’s power."

The Pratt Library has copies.

Patterson Park Concert & Dessert Swap

Sunday, July 26, 6-8pm

Bring your chairs and blankets to Observatory Hill in Patterson Park. Look for the What’s Next flag on the hill and watch the concert with your What’s Next neighbors. Bring your own dinner or buy it in the park. Bring a dessert to share. We’ll have plates and forks. Let’s get there early (5:30) to get a good spot on the hill. They’ll start at 6pm. The band will be US Army Band Downrange featuring Charm City Sings.

Wednesday, August 12, 11:30am-4pm
The Charles Theatre

Meet at Nancy Supik's at 11:30. Get the MTA app loaded on your phone and learn how to use it (we’ll review last year’s app use ideas and fine tune our skills). We'll walk to the bus stop around noon and take the bus to the Charles Theatre. Bring some cash, $1 each way for the bus (unless you are using the Charm Pass). Movie tickets are $12 each. We'll use the app to find a bus home. (Probably arrive home close to 4pm). RSVP to let Nancy & Trish know you’re coming.

What’s Next Kayaking Expedition

Wednesday, August 19, 8-11am (August 26th will be rain date) 
Rusty Scupper Restaurant, 402 Key Highway, Baltimore, MD 21230

No kayaking experience necessary. Bring your own kayak or rent one for $25.00 using a smartphone and QR code at pier. Scott Spencer will lead the flotilla with a discussion of highlights around the Inner Harbor and Fells Point. Wear clothes that can get wet.
